Hello all my Beautiful Friends!! I sincerely hope life is treating you well.
Let’s get started. Today, I want to talk to you a bit about Journaling and what I learned when I tried it, and I do not just mean the jot a few things down on a piece of paper and call that good. I mean giving it an honest to goodness try!
But first, we need to ask the question “What Is Journaling?” According to Sharecare…………https://www.sharecare.com/health/healthy-habits/what-is-journaling………they describe it as this……..Journaling is a vehicle of emotional exploration, a way to channel difficult feelings into healthy and creative outcomes. It is a form of free self-expression that leads to exploration and personal growth. By writing down your thoughts and feelings, you are forced to slow down and pay attention to everything that is going on in your life. You have to listen rather than run away from your feelings.
This morning when I woke up almost an hour earlier than usual………for me this is a bit odd as I like to stay up late and watch TV, even though my job starts early in the morning, I am a bit of a night owl.
Today, I awoke early and I popped up out of bed at 5:22 AM, I know this because I happened to glance at the clock and wonder why I was awake already and I briefly considered hitting the snooze button. This is something that I rather like to do, even though I have read the research that advises me on why I should not do it and why it is bad for health. If you are not sure what I am referring too, I encourage you to google this and see how hitting the snooze button can affect your entire day, and not in a good way either.
Back to My Morning Routine…..I am a coffee drinker…..love….love….love coffee, but only two cups and absolutely no sugar. I have been a sugar free coffee drinker since January 7/2019, I can really say, I am not sure why I ever did put sugar in my coffee to start with. I am summing that up to habit I suppose.
I turned on that Keurig and patiently awaited for my water to heat so I could enjoy my first cup of the day. Seeing as I was awake so much earlier this morning, I decided to Journal. Does that not sound like the perfect way to start your day?
The practice of Journaling is something that I have recently got back into, I was doing it in the evenings before I was going to bed. Straight up…..not at all what I should have been doing. I was so terrible at it, I was wondering why I was even trying to reincorporate it into my life. By terrible, I mean, my thoughts where small, even minuscule, my clarity was unclear as ever and the flow just was not there.
Today seemed like a great day to start a new practice. “Journaling In The Morning”
What I learned about myself by Journaling In The Morning:
- My thoughts were clearer………let’s be frank here,……when I was writing in the evening my answers were small…..no depth…….and most of all no clarity. This morning when I was writing in my Journal, my thoughts were lengthy and my writing was crystal clear. This all due to the fact that when you Journal at the end of the day……you have everything throughout the day floating around in your head, how can your thoughts be clear? They just cannot be.
- I was more relaxed………….You are probably wondering why I would count that as a lesson learned. For me, I was able to sit and think about what I really wanted to put down on paper, I had no thoughts shadowing anything that I was doing this morning. When we become anxious in our bodies, our thoughts become anxious as well.
Even though I may have only listed two items above, I learned a lot more about how to create The Perfect Morning. When I decided that I was going to sit down and Journal this morning, I chose to stay off of Social Media………..again, I did not want anything clouding, tainting or carrying my mind or thoughts away. When we awake in the morning, our minds are clear, we are focused and when we allow Social Media in, things can become jumbled.
I also learned that when I awake early I have time to journal and read a few chapters in my book, all before I check out Social Media. We spend so much time on Social Media mindlessly scrolling away and wondering where the time has went. Not today. I love to read a good book…..it helps Nourish My Soul.
I also learned that by awaking earlier in the morning, my day runs smoother. I am not rushed when I get up in the morning, rather, I am better equipped to handle the day and I seem to be more relaxed and calm throughout the day, how could my day not be a success when I have set it up so carefully?
