As I sit her in the early morning stillness, listening to the odd drop of rain falling, listening to the beautiful chirping of the birds, enjoying my morning coffee, I am reminded of just what a beautiful life I/We have created. We are happy, content and at peace with each other. Our life is by no means perfect and we have our struggles, but together we pull through and always manage to navigate back to center.
Before I sat down to write this blog post, I just finished reading a book, one that was a bit enlightening to me as it reminded me that we all live in our own little bubbles of life, we all have different core values, we all have different traditions and we all have different life structures and struggles. But, what this book reminded me, was that we all have the same twenty four hours in a day, but it is how we use those twenty four hours that count.
For example…..I am sitting here creating this content, sipping my morning coffee. What are you doing at this very moment? Are you creating a morning solely for you or are you creating a morning that is filled with requirements and daily tasks?
I ask you this?
What would you like to do if you had three hours to yourself today? What would be fun, delightful, and freeing for you?
What do you need to do today? What does your body need? What would make your soul happy?
When we nurture a Healthy Life Routine, we are allowing ourselves to create a lifestyle that includes grace, compassion, authenticity and above all we allow ourselves to locate our softer side, the side of you that the sense of humor lives on. The side of you that exists inside of you, the side of you that gets pushed to the bottom as the responsibility list becomes larger. What would happen if you allowed the softer side of you to reveal itself?
For some of us, this might mean something as simple as adopting a Skin Care Routine into our lives. Skin Care is actually a great way to show yourself some Self Care Love.….sometimes it takes a bit of Radical Care Love to remind us that we are worthy. All that this little routine would mean is that you would take ten minutes to yourself in the morning to cleanse, tone, moisturize, apply eye cream….apply Makeup if desired…..and again in the evening, carve out another ten minutes to cleanse, tone, moisturize and apply eye cream again. These are the products I use because clean products are important to me and my Healthy Life Routine……https://bit.ly/2Vd9TA5
This is something that I choose to do for myself……….not because I have terrible skin and am looking to have the perfect skin…..I do this as a way to show myself some Love. We all deserve love and if that means doing something for me by me, that just makes the reward even sweeter, because I know what my body needs! And that my friends is precious and priceless!
The other thing that I have learned while deciding that I needed to take better care and control of my routine was that I needed something called Rest Rituals! Sounds luxurious doesn’t it? Rest Rituals are something that we all should incorporate into our day, even though we may feel we do not have the time…..trust me…..you will find the time, because once you see how your soul desires this stuff, you will never again be able to turn it down. Rest Rituals are things that we need in order to function at full capacity. These are things that we might do and probably should do daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or even annually, these are the things that feed our body, our mind, and our soul.
For some of us, this could mean getting our hair done, maybe it is meditation, maybe it is five minutes of heart centered breathing, maybe a walk outside, possible even ten minutes of yoga, those simple little routines will help you come back to your center.
What Is A Rest Ritual?
Rest Ritual Examples:
Daily Rest: a shower, brushing your teeth, coffee, skin care routine, a walk outside, stretching
Weekly Rest: creating something – a dream catcher – planting a seed – cooking something new, meeting for a tea date with a friend, writing
Monthly Rest: attending a crafting class, reading a book, taking one evening to sit in the tub uninterrupted, hiring a sitter
Quarterly Rest: hairstylist appointment, attending a retreat, visit an inspiring location, taking a vacation
Annually Rest: a getaway with your girlfriends, a getaway with your significant other
Above I have given you a few ideas to think about, it is not intended to be a checklist, rather a opportunity list, something that you can look at, circle what speaks to you and decide how you are going to incorporate some of these practices into your lifestyle.
Maybe one of the items that I have listed above sparks an interest in you, start small, pick one and start creating the small steps in order to create the desired outcome.
We all have ideas and desires but they will stay just that unless you choose to act upon them.
What is it that you can do today to start taking those small steps to creating what you desire?
